Insulation
Log Home Scotland's triple glazed insulated log homes and log cabins comply with and surpass UK Building Regulations. Being extremely efficient in terms of heat retention (warm in winter, cool in summer) render them suitable for all year round living. As our solid log buildings and timber frame houses meet the criteria for sustainable development, they represent a credible, greener and more cost effective alternative to common construction methods.
The thermal efficiency U Value of any building is determined mainly by its insulation and materials used for the outer structure. Timber is an excellent natural insulator. Homes made with solid logs or timber clad exteriors are more thermally efficient than conventionally built houses of the same insulation.
From state of the art man-made products to Natural Insulation such as recycled paper pulp and sheep's wool, there is a vast array of insulation materials that can be used in our log homes and Timber Frame houses. Natural insulators tend to out-perform man-made products in terms of price and heat retention with minimal impact on the environment.
For the purpose of providing you with a price guide, we use grade 1 Rockwool insulation. It is an excellent heat insulator: cost effective, easy to install, absorbs sound and is unattractive to rodents.
